How "Old" Guitarist Learn Guitar

The Method Of "Old" Guitarist Learn The Guitar

(Share this Blog, would be appreciated, thank you)

Do you wanna know how, Eddie Van Halen, Ace Frehley, Brian May, and more more guitarist learn guitar before the internet? Now that you have that curiosity, then today I will tell the method they had use when there's no internet back then. So, pack right in and jump off... to read of course.

Method #1 : Music School or     Music Course

This is obvious of course, they join music school to learn music or they find guitar teacher to teach them. Guitarist that join music school or music teacher course is :

    - Paul Gilbert
    - Jason Becker
    - Marty Friedman
    - Etc.

They of course learn many stuff from their teacher to show them what to do and don't, but this is not the only way that guitarist learn, then let's go to the second method

    Method #2 : Self Taught

What I mean about "self-taught" is not completely learn by yourself, but like Marty Friedman said, "Self-taught means that you learn from all the people."

Now that's the most use method by many "old" legend guitarist, they learn from other people and write down those knowledge.

That's why most guitarist have their own "sound" because they don't know about other sound, maybe they listen to records of other guitarist, but they can't search how to play this x song, because there is no internet.

Method #3 : Hearing From Records

Now, this is also a popular method back then, how does it work? Well, they play a record and try to replicate the sound. Yes, it is difficult, but back then there is a little to no choice. They passionate about it, they never gave up and will never... maybe there is, but those guitar gods, they never gave up, why would you?

    Conclusion

Now I'm not saying this is the best method, but the way I learn guitar, is to try like it's the 70s, 80s, or 90s, where there is no internet, try to learn more by listening, don't always depends on the internet, don't depend on tabs all the time.

I'm not saying don't, just try to limit yourself from the internet, because you just searching the easy way. Try to start hard and difficult, because every hard beginning, there is always a easy future.

Thank you so much that you had come by to my blog, hopes my tips and information will entertain you and bring you a better future as a master of the guitar,

Regards, Rai.

Find Your Own Style of Playing Guitar and Develop Them, Here's How

Play Guitar with Your Own Style and Attract More People To Your Playing

(Share this Blog, would be appreciated, thank you)

The thing that's difficult to guitarist is to transffering their sound from inside their head to actually play it.

But, people also struggle to find their sound and style. Well, today is your lucky day, because I will tell you how find that sound AND how you transfer that sound from inside your head to your guitar playing

Bare with me, because I will tell you what you need and I'll tell you tips about it

    1. Find Inspiration

I think this is obvious, but you can't find "your" sound from one guitarist (well you can, but it's a high chance that you just copy that guitarist sound, and that is NOT "your" sound, but that guitarist sound)

There's many guitarist out there, name a few :

  • Randy Rhodes
  • Vinnie Moore
  • Marty Friedman
  • B.B. King
  • etc.

Now try to find as much, but not that much, then you find the "sound" and your style. It could suddenly come to your head or you trying to fuse 3 or 4 guitarist sound, and that what I'm about to talk next,

    2. Fuse 3-4 Guitarist Style

Maybe to some people, that this is not "your" sound, because it's just fusing guitarist sound and style, but I'll tell you, guitarist from list above, they found their "sound" also from other guitarist.

So, don't be ashamed to find your sound from other guitarist. We just developing the old sound to become a new sound, it's evolving, that's also how music genre create. Fusing others to become one.

   3. Transferring The Sound To Your Guitar Play

This is the part where people struggle to accomplish, why? because that's how nature is, we can't make something from our mind to real life. That's where you need to learn to transfer it.

How? well, I recommend you to watch this video, but I'll leave you my tips on this topic,

    1. Learn Music Theory

Yes, I know it'll be boring because you need to read and learn, I know you want to jam and blaze your guitar, but just sit and read, it'll only take 1-2 weeks, to actually learn enough music theory to develop your sound.

    2. Noodle Around the Guitar

Yes, I know you already noodling on the guitar, instead of practicing, but now try noodling more serious. Now, maybe you a little confuse, but what I mean is try to noodle while thinking about it, not just playing random stuff

    3. Learn A Song That Sounds Like "Your" Style and Sound

Example, you want a style that sound mystique and mysterious, you could try songs that use the Phrygian Dominant scale or The Egypt scale or any Middle Eastern scale

You wanna sound Japanese and konichiwa, well try to learn Hirajoshi scale or other Japanese scale.

That's where I talk about learn music theory, trust me, it's worth it.

    4. Developing The "Sound"

Now, if you already find "your" sound and how had transfer it. Now it's time developing it. How you may say? Well PLAY IT EVERY TIME YOU PLAY GUITAR, is that simple, play it every time

Now the psychology problem is, when you starting to say, "What if my 'sound' is bad and not as good as other guitarist?" now my friend, that is tough part.

You can't convince people to like "your" style, not everyone will like "your" sound, but there's always people that likes "your" sound, if people say, they didn't like "sound", DON'T CHANGE "YOUR" SOUND, don't let them bothered you, they're not your only audiance, there's billion of people out there and because a group of 6-8 people, you will stop?

NO! be yourself, be "your" sound, it's music, there is no rules, you can change the world by your play. Never stop and stay hungry to reach your goal of success on your guitar and music playing.

    Conclusion

Where ever you want accomplish anything, it need time to develop skill for that goal, I know it'll be boring, but every sacrifice is worth it, maybe I'm not the best at guitar playing, but sure know that I'm more discipline than 60-80% guitar player, remember, "Consistent is key, if you do it everyday, even just for 10 minutes, it's still better than doing it 4 hours a day, and you stop,
